• Heading into the second full weekend of play, ACC teams own a combined 46-10 (.821) record against non-conference opposition. That includes a 37-1 mark thus far in home games. A total of 46 games are part of this weekend’s packed schedule, 30 of which will be home games for ACC schools. NC State’s home game versus Quinnipiac on Friday will be the first of the season to be shown live on ACC Network.
• Five ACC teams are ranked among the nation’s top 10 this week in at least one major poll, led by Notre Dame’s No. 2 placement by Baseball America, which also ranked Virginia No. 4. Other polls found NC State (NCBWA and Perfect Game) and Georgia Tech (Collegiate Baseball) as high as No. 7, and Florida State (Collegiate Baseball) as high as No. 8.
• Collegiate Baseball, D1Baseball, NCBWA and Perfect Game also selected ACC Player of the Week Tommy White (NC State) as National Player of the Week, while ACC Pitcher of the Week Bryce Hubbart (Florida State) received the honor from Collegiate Baseball.
• White, a freshman from St. Pete Beach, Fla., hit three home runs in his college debut last Friday versus Evansville. White became the first NC State player since April 7, 2010 (Chris Schaeffer vs. Coppin State) to hit three homers in a single game.
• Through four games this season, Wake Forest scored 63 runs (15.75 runs per game), the second-most runs through the first four games in program history (1951). This also marks just the second time in program history the Demon Deacons have registered at least 20 runs multiple times during the opening four games of a season. Wake Forest plated 29 runs against Argentina and 23 runs against Brazil as the United States representative in the 1951 Pan-American Games. The Deacons hit eight home runs in Tuesday’s 23-8 win over UNC Greensboro.
• Opening weekend marked the first time in Miami baseball history that the Hurricanes began a season by scoring in double figures in four consecutive games. Miami outscored visiting Towson by 32 runs while sweeping the series. The Hurricanes fell just short of making it five consecutive games on Wednesday night, when they topped visiting FAU 9-1.
• North Carolina is slated to face No. 25 East Carolina at two different sites this weekend, playing host to the Pirates on Friday and Saturday, before traveling to Greenville, N.C., on Sunday afternoon to complete the series at ECU. Sunday’s game will be the Tar Heels’ first road test of the young season.
• Fifteen different ACC players were named to at least one 2022 Preseason All-America Team.
