ACC a down conference?

Nov 7, 2018, 1:52 PM

The ACC has a top four team and 10 losses to the current top four teams (including its own top four team).
With 5 games remaining against those teams

The Sec has a top four team and 8 losses.
With 4 games remaining.

The Big 10 has a top four team and 8 losses.
With 4 games remaining.

The Big 12 does not have a top five team and has 0 losses to the top four.
With the highest currently ranked team played being #6 OU and no games left against the current top four

The PAC 12 does not have a top 7 team and has 1 loss to the top four.
With 1 game remaining.

Notre Dame is a top four team and the only team that has beaten a currently ranked top four team and play an ACC heavy schedule (5 teams).

Still the ACC’s win loss distribution across the conference is comparable to or better than all other conferences.

It’s some of the other losses that hurt the ACC. VT for example.

UVa losing to Indiana and Pitt getting blown out by UCF really didn't help. Obviously VT's loss to Old Dominion.

Yes it is. The ACC was arguably the best conference

2 years ago, slipped a bit last year, and is the worst this year (or at least neck and neck with the Pac 12 for that distinction). It's absolutely a down year.

FBS conferences, ranked by average S&P+ rating:

SEC (plus-10.3 adjusted points per game, up 1.1 points)
Big 12 (plus-5.8, up 0.6)
Big Ten (plus-5.6, up 0.4)
Pac-12 (plus-4.0, up 0.4)
ACC (plus-3.9, up 0.3)

The NCAA doesn't really care about parody...

They care about money.

I wanna laugh, cause I'm pretty sure you misspelled "parity" on purpose...

The ACC is down this year...

Nov 7, 2018, 2:09 PM

While NC State, Cuse and BC are ranked, Louisville, Virginia Tech, FSU and Miami have all pretty much crapped the bed.

Re: ACC a down conference?

From 2013-2017, the ACC was the best conference in college football and dominated literally every single conference metric except draft picks. The SEC had more draft picks, but only barely.

Interestingly enough though, of those draft picks, most of those SEC draft picks have been busts or fizzled out spectacularly, while draft picks from the ACC and Big 10 have done tremendously well. SEC players that are drafted typically do poorly in the NFL, however the ones that remain typically make a good name for themselves (look at Beckham Jr.). But, on average, ACC and Big 10 players that are drafted typically stay in the NFL longer.
