I get the impression that there is a narrative being pushed down - probably from ESPN - to the current crop of sports commentators around the country that the SEC is to be lauded and glorified in any way possible. Since the ACC shares a larger geographical footprint with the SEC than any other conference, the companion narrative is that they are to be discredited and mocked in whatever way imaginable.

I'm not a student of basketball but I enjoy watching it. I do know that several ACC teams made a deeper run into last year's tournament than anyone predicted while several vaunted SEC schools dropped like flies. I don't know how much talent the ACC contenders lost since last year nor do I know how much stronger other conference schools are. It just seems that based on last year's performance, more than two schools would have landed places in a pre-season poll.
