Seems there is far more women's softball on tv than college

baseball. I wonder if that is just from a failure of the sports networks to push and promote college baseball?

Absolutely. The smaller field makes it so. Those short base

paths mean that what would be a routine infield ground ball in baseball is going to nearly always be a CLOSE play at first base.
The small field also causes what seems to be a contradiction. A well hit fly ball will leave the park as a homerun. But, the pitcher is so close to home plate to begin with, there is not much time to react to pitches and swing the bat. Thus, homeruns are held in check, for the most part.
It all adds up to the fact that Softball.....be exciting!

Way more entertaining and faster paced?? baseball really should be shortened to 7 innings and add in the run rule.

Baseball has been the same , for the most part, the last 100+ years.
If grown men would rather watch a inferior athlete play a game where a ball has to be increased in size, bases moved closer, stadium’s made smaller, then that’s not really a knock on baseball.
Just me personally, I’ve never understood who in the heck watches softball on ESPN. For something that folks claim is so entertaining, it’s odd that the sport stops at the college level

I coached competitive baseball and I would rather watch softball. The pace of play and the energy the girls bring is enjoyable to watch. BB needs to speed up play.

Softball is a better for TV product

Also softball is the highest level of softball as the pro leagues are not popular at all. While college baseball is a big distance behind MLB

Can schedule programming more accurately and they can play almost 2 softball games in the same time 1 baseball game is played. Softball will play in 2hrs or less almost always. College baseball will be 3hrs+, often in the 3.5hr range. Baseball has got too slow, with batters doing their glove and bat routine between each bat, pitchers doing their routine, then breaks to play 3-5 pitcher's per game. Just takes too long for TV.
Softball also has broader audience group as men and women will watch softball where baseball is heavy male game. Just faster paced game.

Have you watched them both?

If so, you might understand why women's softball is more popular.
I actually used to watch college bb but just can't do it anymore.
IMO, there is nothing that can be done to make college bb enjoyable to the masses.

I need something that is faster paced. I would much rather watch softball between the two but I’m not really a fan of any of it. If Clemson is on TV in any sport I will watch it though. There’s just nothing that can beat college football to me. I’ve always loved it.

So womens softball and not mens softball? Since the NCAA does not have a mens version of the sport why the gender reference?
