About the ACC...

Jun 15, 2013, 11:30 AM

For once, I'm glad to be heading into summer without rumors of this program or that program leaving this conference. I'm not a huge fan of the recent additions of Syracuse & Pitt. But I'm glad the ACC stepped up and did a GOR, if that's what it took to keep everyone home. I'm not 100% sure it'll hold up forever. But at least for now, things have settled on the realignment front and we can just focus on football.

Also, from a selfish standpoint, I wanted Tech to be in the same conference with FSU & Clemson more than anything else. Our rivalry with Clemson is one of the most underrated in all of college football. And having FSU on our southern border makes them a natural fit to be in our conference.

Going forward, I hope they realign the divisions so that Tech, FSU, Clemson & Miami are all together. I'm not holding my breath on that though.

Clemson will play GT and FSU every year. That's all we need, but I'd like to play UNC every year as well. Wouldn't hate to see UNC and Duke moved to the Atlantic in exchange for BC and Syracuse.

i dislike the annual cross-division aspect of any team,

having to play any other team. that has FIX written all over it. i don't care how you slice it, some teams will have an inherent advantage 1 game per yr., while other teams will have a slug-fest. it's pure bs, and swoffy knows and loves it!!!!

Good Point Sgt.

I would like our division to be the following:

Clemson
FSU
GT
Miami
State
UVA
UNC

Would that be too top heavy?

VT
Duke
UL
WF
BC
PITT
Cuse

Yes, a little top heavy...

Louisville would have the easiest schedule in the history of Division 1 football.

sort of like the sec east/west. you have teams capable of

stepping up in the "other" div. but the proven winners are in a single division. if a team made it through the 1st division you listed unscathed, or with 1 loss, they would be playoff worthy, with a good shot of winning it all, no doubt.

I'd love that, but VT would raise holy heck...

One issue with having VT in the conference is that they don't want to be identified with the Northeast schools. They like playing the Southern schools more. And unfortunately, that makes them a guaranteed no vote on any alignment that smacks of north/south.

It's too bad, because North/South would be the best way for the conference to build up its rivalries, and ultimately fan interest.

Also, in your alignment, VT/UVA would be split, same as UNC/Dook. So, let's switch Dook & UVA. Maybe VT, and some other schools, could live with that?
