Dan Wolken reports that Texas A&M will gauge the interest of Jimbo Fisher once its separation from current coach Kevin Sumlin is official at the end of the season.

There's always been rumors of a rift between Fisher and the FSU AD and their unwillingness to upgrade facilities, spend money on football, etc. so I wouldn't be shocked if he jumped on the first good job elsewhere.

Easier? Isn't A&M in the western division with Alabama, Auburn, LSU etc?

of college football to a division where he has to play one real team, Alabama, once a year. And Alabama can barely beat Mississippi State these days.

Jimbo is going to do what Tommy Bowden did to us when he threatened to go to Arkansas. Except Jimbo wants new facilities and not a new contract

Well, Jimbo tried that game last year and got burned. He basically had the LSU gig locked up - until he demanded (with a straight face!) 7 years at $10 million, all guaranteed. The AD - who had been pursuing for years - was not amused and told Jimbo to go eff himself.
Jimbo then ran back to FSU before news of that fiasco reached them and apparently tried the same thing (basically the Tommy Bowden-running-to-Arkansas move that actually worked with Clemson) and got much the same answer. They weren't extending him...and the big boosters, AD, and university pres - with whom he already does not see eye to eye, apparently - were not thrilled with his negotiating tactics either.
If things were strained then, I can't imagine they're at all copacetic with FSU sitting at 3-6 and likely to miss out on a bowl game and a winning season for the first time in like 40 years.

Have fun paying for Sumlin, Jimbo's huge buy out and Jimbo. If you can afford that, you have more money than sense.
