Have spent a lot of time watching replays this spring

Of course, I only watch games we won but a few observations:

Watching an annual Chicken Kicking is always entertaining.

Kelly Bryant was not a bad QB in 2017. You don't win 12 games with a bad QB. Yes, he had an excellent defense, and the biggest thing he had in his favor was 4 returning starters in the OL. The newcomer was Jackson Carmen who was young but definitely serviceable that year. Being sandwiched between Watson and Lawrence makes the comparisons difficult. Admittedly he couldn't throw deep accurately.

DJ for comparison's sake had an excellent defense last year, but never had continuity on the OL. He definitely didn't have an all-conference center like we had in 2017. He definitely is not the runner Bryant was. His passing is open for discussion, but I won't pretend to be an expert.

It takes all eleven on the field (in all 3 Phases) doing their jobs for a playoff type season. If that doesn't happen for whatever reason (lack of talent, injuries, etc.) a 10 win season is really a pretty good accomplishment. Doesn't mean I like it, but I recognize the reality.

What may happen this fall:

DJ makes marked improvement in passing, especially the deep ball.

Klubnik is as advertised by some and we see him take over sometime during the season.

Neither occurs and we do well to win 10 games again.

Your perspective is probably as good as mine, and in a few cases may even better.

Your perspective

--- is good for me.
I too like to watch games from the past. In real time I am too emotional to see what is going on.

Bryant was an excellent QB. He was not DW or TL, but better than most who have been Tigers.

"It takes all eleven on the field" is often overlooked by fans who want to shade one player. You are right as to that. Clemson puts guys on the field who are well trained. The coaching staff has been great.

Guys not 5star have been coached up and have impressed the world. Clemson is not on the level as to resources of a Texas or Alabama, but we have done OK.

More and more,

I’m looking to Klubnick to put us back where we belong on the offensive side of the ball.

I believe DJ will do that.

Do yourself a favor and rewatch the ND game that DJ started

For TL.

I did last night knowing what I know now. I have nothing but best wishes for DJ. I just don't know if he is the QB who moves us forward.

I hope I am wrong.

A Two QB System?

May 2, 2022, 4:45 AM

I’ll take the middle of the road on the QB issue. I don’t believe CK will become the starter this year, but he will play a lot. It will be close to being a two QB system and very effective. DJ will improve and CK gets better as the year goes on. Pros and cons to such an arrangement, but this may be one of those situations where it does work well.

Jackson Carmen was not on that KB team

He was a part of Trevor’s class in 2018:
