A thought on deciding teams for ACCCG

Oct 26, 2012, 2:29 PM

This isn't an original thought. Credit goes to Travis Sawchik (Charleston Post & Courier).

If the MNC Game can have two teams from the same division play for the MNC, why can't two teams from the same division play for the ACCCG?

Why do we have to be broken up into two separate divisions? Just have everyone play the mandatory 8 conference games in a round-robin-ish style and give the top two teams the invitation to play in the ACCCG.

I think most would agree that the best two teams at this moment in the ACC are Clemson and FSU, yet if both win out only FSU gets a shot at the championship team against, at best, the number 3 team in the league.

The first argument we'll hear is that Clemson had there chance and should have beat FSU head to head. That is very true, but in a non-divisional format, that's not an issue either. If the two best teams happen to play during the regular season, someone has to lose, and the winner still has that chance at the championship game.

Just some thoughts and ramblings.

Thought it was up to the conference. Dumb NCAA.

Ruining my argument...

Than can we get an at-large bid to the OB and play FSU?***

then play the 3 teams in your division and 2 from the other 3 divuisons. The 2 teams with the best conf records go to the ACCCG. Incase of a tie Tiebreaker #1 is head to head then Tiebreaker #2 is BCS rankings.

Example for giggles & grins

South
Miami
FSU
GT
Clenson

Atlantic
NCST
NC
Wake
Duke

Coastal
VT
UVA
Maryland
UCon

North
ND
Pitt
BC
Syracuse

Our schedule This Year would of looked like

Auburn
Ball St
Miami
FSU
GT
Wake
NCST
VT
Maryland
BC
Pitt
SC
