500+ yards of offense, DJ played a good game, Shipley looked good, OL looked better tonight, WRs had ups and downs but overall looked improved.
Defense down 5 starters, 2 up front and 3 DBs, barely gave up 300 yards, forced 4 turnovers, didn’t give up a TD until the 4th quarter in garbage time…
But dang near all I’m seeing on here is negativity. Absolutely ridiculous man. The armchair warriors and complete lack of football knowledge kills me sometimes.
Im proud of this team and the improvement we saw today. We without a doubt have the opportunity to be a playoff team.

Shipley lead the team as the #1 leader of this whole team, adjustments in the secondary with our backups, nobody isn’t going to play next week because of this game (hopefully) and our special teams showed out!!!!

Performance by that unit. Love to see it.
Agree on Shipley, he had his pass pro issues in the first half but came out in the 2nd half and showed out. Loved the fire I saw with him tonight.

Yes our money players look better this week than last, but, the best talented defense in the country as it was said preseason bc of the experience that we have on our D-line, and it shouldn't have mattered if all of the starters along the D-line had been out bc, they way we were talked about preseason, it wasn't just bc of our starters as to why we were predicted to have the best D in the country, it was bc of the depth we have. And to this point, all that talent hasn't looked nothing like what a top defense should look like at full force, or with a few out with injury.
People can say what they want to say, but, either they were wrong about how talented we are with the starters and with the depth, or the coaching has failed all that talent miserably. So I'm asking anyone who feels/believes they know top talent, are we not as talented as the FB world said we were, or, has the coaching staff not done what was expected from them to do with all that talent bc, teams that we were suppose to crush, have mounted up way to many yards on our defense, and that was never done to a Brent Venables coached defense, especially when we were playing one of the cup cake teams. BV coached defenses had knocked the wind out of the sails of teams like that before half time, and we usually played the whole roster against team like we've played so far!!! What is the biggest problem, the lack of talent, or the lack of experience coaching, it is one or the other, what the h&11 is it????

Heck liberty took wake to the wire and what has state done? Should’ve lost to ECU(if they had a kicker) and won by two scores over an OK Texas tech team.
I like our chances, even if we play like we did tonight. I’ll take 500 yards of offense and with everyone back on defense next week(hopefully) I dang sure like our odds.

If what we done was against a team in the strength of our schedule, we could be less concerned, but the way we played was against a scheduled cup cake that we paid to come in and use for a live practice!!!

DJ started the game out great, building on the momentum he had established over the prior 6 quarters, but seemed to lapse back into the '21 version there in the 2nd. Then 2nd half he was back in gear again. Hopefully these successes are manifesting themselves for the longer run ahead. He definitely has the tools to perform at a very high level, as was witnessed in many series last night.
Cade has apparently hit a bit of a wall. After being crowned as the savior in the opener after his big series, he's struggled the past two games and found himself benched. Knowing this kid's story that's only going to make him that much better if we need him as the season progresses.
Ship wants the #### ball. I love it.
WRs looking more and more comfortable.
In short, we cover easily last night if DJ doesn't lose focus in the 2nd Q and/or we don't give our momentum away with the two CK drives. DJ coming back in and calmly taking over and leading us to a score in the 4th, resetting the game for us, bodes very well for what lies ahead.
We are poised to continue to improve weekly. There's a LOT to like about this team's chances.

I think it’s because we remember a few years ago when we’d cover the line by halftime and didn’t have to bring the starters back in the game because it started getting close against a 6-6 LaTech team.
Having to play our starters the whole game every game is going to start affecting our depth

Offense and defense both had big plays that eventually allowed us to pull away. I am a little concerned about the 2nd string defense giving up big plays and allowing points but this was a good Air Raid offense by La Tech that will give the coaches some film they can use this week.
Overall, satisfied with the win but more things to work on in practice.
