Transfer Scholarships

Feb 2, 2022, 10:29 AM

Did I understand the guy on the Roar correctly that up to 7 transfers would not count against the 85 Scholarships for 2022?

I heard the same from a different outlet. Don't recall which one.

Not True. You can replace up to 7 transfers with Tranfers

to go from 25 to 32 for a year signing cap but the 85 is still max!!

Thanks for clarifying that. Since you answered that question, you bring up a new one. How are so many teams signing more than 25? I think TAMU has over 30 in this class.

1) it could be due to the Transfer element you just asked

Feb 3, 2022, 9:17 AM

about. If they have room on their 85 to sign 32 players and they had 7 transfers then that could be it. or 2) they didn't sign 25 guys in 2021. They can count early enrollees(Jan) back to the 2021 class. 3) if they end up in August looking like they will be over 85, then they could ask a couple to wait until Jan 2023 to enroll(grayshirt)

Remember TAM claimed they only had like 38-40 players for the Gator Bowl due to Covid, Transfers, opt outs and other attrition. Sounds like they were well under 85 at the end of last season - some of that could be impacts may be residual effects of the coaching change a few years back that create bubbles in their roster too.

A lot of schools over sign their 85 scholarships.

They then pull schollys from existing players that are underperforming in order to give them to new signers. Scholarships are looked at as annual promises and not 4 years.

That's the difference with Dabo. If you commit to him, he's committed to you. That's why he doesn't over sign. It's why he stops recruiting positions once the allotment is full.

we have 81 or right now so we have 4 to give, Dabo likes to give walk ons who put in the work a scholly so factor that in. I'm sure we lose some guys after spring who are not cutting it.

If Billy Wiles is a scholarship and not walk on that would be 82 with 3 to give...

Wiles is already on scholarship. We are at 83 currently +

an unidentified LS which puts us at 84. We have 1 open scholarship currently for a transfer or walkon.

This list hasn't been updated with the most recent 6 signees of Griffin, Story, Adams, Dudley, Mccloud and Lawson. Add those 6 to the 77 listed = 83

sorry - here's the list I meant to attach
