leftist propaganda about the situation, a Democrat judge maintained a courtroom designed to protect the highest ideal of "We hold these truths...". He should be applauded for it, and we should all be thankful for that example, as well as sad that it is increasingly rare in our society. The outcome protected truth, but there was no good personal outcome possible.

creating a situation where a mentally ill guy walked into a riot, started a fight and got himself killed. No heroes in that scenario. The last resort, a jury of peers, finally made truth prevail in that govt's attempt to find a scapegoat for its own failings. At least it did that, but that's all it did.
