I don't get it. They had an easy 3 set up. I know everyone would prefer a touchdown, but the way we owned their offense, a field goal was practically a sure thing. Coots gonna coot, I guess.... ?? ??

IMO that did not kick a FG because their kicker refused to be embarrassed or he could have missed the FG. Then to put up 3 points to keep from being shut out I believe would have embarrassed the players and made Beamer look like one of those typical coot HC’s from the past who are willing to settle for the easy points. I believe he wanted to score a TD to teach the players you have keep fighting.
