With pressure off, Leggett says fans will see a "more complete team"

o more pressure. Tight end Jordan Leggett met with the media Monday afternoon in the WestZone, and he was honest about Clemson’s loss to Pitt last weekend and the turnovers that led to the defeat, but the Mackey Award finalist told the media he thinks the loss will wind up helping the Tigers in the long run. A different type of pressure....

Nov 14, 2016, 4:56 PM [ in reply to pressure off? ]

I think Leggett is correct regarding the pressure to be undefeated (as well as dominate all opponents).
That pressure now gives way to a sense of urgency to win out. If there were more games ahead, I'd be concerned, but I think this team can focus on three championship games Ina row (division, state, conference) and then have time to regroup for the playoffs.
In hindsight, a win over Pitt would be a nice cushion, but perhaps the focus for Wake just increased.
I also think we have been better on the road this year, generally speaking.

Wasn't too many years ago we worried about winning a bowl game.. then we worried about winning 10 games and beating an SEC team and now we worry about going undefeated and if we don't , its over.. lol.. relax boys, we either go 12 and 1 and make the playoff or we go 11 and 2 and go to a nice bowl game.... these are days we need to love,,,,,,,, ask florida and Tennessee and auburn and mississppi state and LSU... they would kill to be where we are.

I don't think Alabama thinks that way, why should we?

I get your point, but Mississippi State? C'mon man.

I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message.

It's a different kind of pressure...

Nov 14, 2016, 7:20 PM [ in reply to pressure off? ]

I don't think the guys feel under any pressure to win ... they know they're going to win.

He meant the pressure of the streak, the "how much longer will we go" sort of thing that beings festering in the back of your mind.

Obviously, that's gone. All that matters now is the win.

Some first-class disemboweling would be nice, but any win is a good one.

Two more wins and we're in!!! I like those odds much better bc we have more experience at winning than we do at losing!!! We're at 23-2 right now, and 23 wins is also greater experience to carry forward on than two losses could ever be. My trust is still where it's been for the past two or three years, and that's with our team. Go Tigers, we got this moving forward!!!

Just turnovers?

Nov 14, 2016, 5:02 PM

Turnovers are everything right now. We can spread the blame around to multiple parts of the game, but turnovers are limiting this team's potential. We can beat anyone, heck we can blow every team in this country out, but that requires 0 turnovers.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

not only turnovers, but

Nov 14, 2016, 5:12 PM

an aggressive running game needs to emerge soon.

I'd love to see our OL step up and dominate the LOS for a change. I think that's the biggest difference between us and an AL.

They really have been an issue all year, and even though we've won, we've been very fortunate to win in spite of the turnovers. Get the TO's fixed, and we're a great team, and even with the TO's we're a very good team. We've proved that already.

That is leadership there! No excuses, optimism, taking personal responsibility, challenging younger players, and supporting your field leader. I would have JL on my team, company, or unit any day.

I wouldn't want to be WF this week. It is a terrible atmosphere for a game, but I expect us to put on a show Sat.

I'm really impressed with Jordan Leggett. He's improved in his play and his attitude.

Nov 14, 2016, 6:43 PM

His blocking has been much better this year but a lot of people on here just regurgitate what they've heard in years past and don't watch closely enough to see how well he's blocking. I applaud him for trying to shoulder the blame on that pick but Deshaun also made a poor decision to try and force that ball in there so the blame can't be his alone. No one player or unit caused us to lose this game. The Defense played really poorly the first half but fought their ##### off the 2nd half. Deshaun was unbelievable all night and the offense kept that game from becoming a game of catch up. Our best offensive lineman goes down and can't come back in but his replacement steps up and plays so well you couldn't tell Mitch Hyatt wasn't out there.

This loss could absolutely be the best thing that could have happened to us. Our team has always played their best when they're being counted out. We won't know for sure until the end of the season but I truly think we will see a pi$$ed off team with a chip on their shoulder playing their best football for the remainder of the season.

No body has ever had a problem with DW4 forcing the ball all those times that he has and made it. An aggressive QB that DW4 is has won us more games than any QB we've had leading or Tigers in years. To find the proof of that statement is just a short, a very short glance behind us. The kid has no fear in pulling the trigger and will. Personally, I like our chances of winning it all this season as I did last year, and maybe more since the loss than I had last year bc, this is the right time in of our season for the memory and the pain of a loss is still fresh on their minds heading toward the finish line on January 9, 2017 in Raymond James Stadium Tampa Florida. No Florida teams will be in the National Championship Game this season, and that leaves Clemson as being as close to being the home team as anyone that we will be playing against in this years champion game as Bama was playing against us last year in Phoenix AZ, but Clemson will be even closer to being the home team in Tampa than Bama was playing in Phoenix... Gooooo Tigerssss, I believe we GOT this one at home for us!!!!

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't know if anyone feels the same.

Nov 14, 2016, 7:11 PM

Our team plays better when there is a sense of urgency that we really need to win.

Both NC State and Pitt games were the two games that our team played like the win was just gonna happen. The unit that played the worst in these two games was d-line, which surprised me a lot.

Same goes for Watson. It seems that way to me too. It's like they take it for granted. And this might be the reason why many games were closer than it should. Think about it. We're close in so many games that we should have blown them away.

Maybe it's not pressure, but more like lack of focus.

Now, we need to win this game. It's so important that it might between playoff and missing the New Year's Six altogether.

I never expected us to win every game. I didn't expect us

Nov 14, 2016, 10:52 PM

to lose to Pitt though.

I expected our offense to be better than last season, and it hasn't been. I expected our defense to drop off, and until Saturday, it had been better than I expected. Expectations are like expeditions and examinations. They excite extemporaneously but often fall short of excellence and end up leaving one with exaggerated exaltations.

It has been really nice to see JL's growth this year...on field and between the ears. A great asset to the team. I believe he is correct.
