A "Different" ACC Network Question (long, sorry)

Jan 18, 2019, 8:43 AM

If this has been asked and answered, I apologize. The ACC Network seems to be on track from a live content standpoint, as we are seeing more and more live events available on watch Espn and the ACC Network banner. There are two areas that I am very curious about, and I would have thought would have been common knowledge by now. If anyone can shed some light, it is greatly appreciated.

1] SEC & BIG10 have a primary numbered channel on *DirectTv (using DirecTV only as an example)

610 Big10 Primary
610-1 Big10 Alternate
611 SEC Primary
611-1 SEC Alternate

*similar structure I believe on Comcast and other major cable companies.

The Pac12 and Big12, for two totally different reasons have "screwed the pooch" on their conference network offerings to date. I am very hopeful, and it would seem that we should know by now, that the ACC network will be part of the same package of programming on DirectTv and Cable as the SEC& Big10 Networks. i.e. I do not want to see the ACC network as either an ala'carte add on, or as a separate premium sports package.

Does anyone know if these deals have been struck with direcTV , Comcast, and the major Streaming Services(YouTubeTv, Sling, Hulu Live , etc)? We will be sadly dissapointed in the success of the network if it is an ala'carte offering.

2. If the ACC Network is structured like th Big10 and SEC networks, there will be dedicated personalities that "stock" the ACC Network talent pool. Those people , or at least the core team , have certainly been identified at this point. Has anyone heard if there is a primary couple of people that will headline that talent pool? At one point , I heard that Mark Packer was going to be a full-time ACC Network guy? I am very curious about the talent that is coming on board. I would love to see Pete Yannity , for example, as mainstay on the network. Anyway, It seems like we should know more than we know at this point.

This guy has a blog that covers a lot of that in detail....

I'm also wondering if there will be ACC alternate channels so all football games will be televised somehow on cable, as opposed to having to sit at the computer to see them. Haven't heard any confirmation yet.

Thanks for the link. It is not that far in the future. I would have expected a lot more publicity and details at this point.

But who will be the talking head for this network. The SEC has Deadtree and the Bug X has a bunch of talkers that are almost like watching paint dry. Please do not make it a Basketball guy leading into Football Season.

I would love to see them get Mark Packer, but they'd have to hire him away from XM Radio.
