50 years as a Tiger Fan, I finally get on the field!

Nov 20, 2017, 8:59 AM

As a U.S. Navy Veteran, I finally decide to get down to the field at halftime. I will never miss another opportunity to be down there for Veterans Appreciation Day. As Mr. Greenwood belted out his famous tune I looked around at the Veterans surrounding me, I witnessed many Vets with tears, it was like a tidal wave of emotions had swept into to Death Valley and as L.G. finished the last words and the roar from the crowd erupted, I realized just how special it was to combine the pride I felt from being a Vet and being a Tiger fan at the same time. A truly special moment I will never forget. GO TIGERS!

I can't imagine what that would be like. I am glad you had the opportunity to take part in that show. Thank you for your service. I, for one, appreciate what you and many others have done for me and I will never sit or kneel for the national anthem.

Clemson was literally built on a proud tradition of military service (in WW2, for example, only two schools produced more Army officers than Clemson A&M College - West Point and Texas A&M). I'm so glad to see us honoring that part of our heritage every year. Thank you to you and all the other fans and alum who have served our nation and are currently serving. We thank you and appreciate you!

Go Tigers!
