It's fascinating that for all of the Tnutter hysteria about cities, when you look at the national map of homicide rates, the ten states where homicide rates are highest are... 1. Mississippi 2. Louisiana 3. Alabama 4. New Mexico 5. South Carolina 6. Missouri 7. Illinois 8. Tennessee 9. Maryland 10. Arkansas

"Homicide" is pretty specific. If you don't like the numbers it doesn't mean there is anything funny about them. Since when have homicide rates not been a significant crime measure?

Sorry, but the OP is correct: SC is far, far more dangerous for violent crime than those cities per capita. Sure, they have more total crimes, but it's already been pointed out that they're larger populations.
SC is not a safe state. Not even close. Now, you and I aren't feeling that because we live in places where that doesn't apply. But if I chose to relocate to a North Charleston hood off of Rivers Avenue, I'm going to feel it.
I don't know why y'all keep discussing race with the very obvious insinuation that black people are more violent. Crime has more to do with poverty, and in the South, that goes very hand in hand with African Americans. Poor white folks can be just as criminal when desperate.

WHY do you think black people commit more violent crime?
That still doesn't really change the point of the OP: SC is more dangerous than those areas.

I will say, dig deeper into individual counties.
I think we who are from SC for example all know of neighborhoods to stay out of, and they aren't usually red neighborhoods. But, although I'm liberal, I'll be racist for pointing out that FACT.

Poverty imo. But, that's another can of worms.
I'll also add that in my experience, poverty is often self inflicted although my side of the aisle doesn't usually want to acknowledge that equation.

Of course. Seems most homicides happen within a few blocks in most cities.
I'm originally from podunk Dillon County, SC and have done the math multiple times in the past. Take out about 4 blocks of Dillon and the murder rate for the county drops by more than half. Literally.
And it's been the same in all towns/cities I've lived in. The safest area I've lived in by far is where I'm at now, in very red Tennessee.

It's hilarious watching people cherry pick stats to make it sound like it's all those vile white MAGAs committing most of the crime in this country. The entire criminal justice system says differently of course, but don't let the fact that prisons nationwide are full of Democrats get in the way of a good troll.

I cant answer for the above poster, but in my mind, it doesn't tell the entire story. The state data is used to scream hey look at those red states.
But, when you actually start digging into the numbers, it often isn't red areas where the murder rate is the highest.

Late to this OP of your’s.
Do you believe that you accomplished your objective of using per-STATE homicide stats as an obtuse way of defending high homicide rates in Democrat governed CITIES?
“It's fascinating that for all of the Tnutter hysteria about cities, when you look at the national map of homicide rates, the ten states where homicide rates are highest are.”
Does an attempt to confuse others about the base problem (I.e., long standing Democrat party inspired social policies & crime mitigation initiatives) help to make the homicide problem less severe?
Perhaps the effort to try and confuse everyone about why focal regions of violent crime (e.g., selected cities) should be ignored … and attention diverted to large geographical areas in which the vast majority of overall acreage is crime free (e.g., selected states) is worthwhile. Who knows, if the ~ 50+ year Democrat urban programs to improve the urban area living environment are just given another ~ 50 years, then it will all work out.
Is that the plan?

The whole deep red deep South is topping the list. Why is that.
If Democratic cities in Democratic states result in lots of homicides, then why are their statewide totals lower.
I've never seen a group of people less willing to face reality than the right-wingers. You don't like something, you deny it exists.

Uh, please don’t speak too soon! If you want, I can send you a list of websites that states that list the most violent places to live in America. News flash, on several pages South Carolina don’t crack the top 25 ( or several of the red states for that matter). Keep in mind that one doesn’t have to be killed for the crime to be classified as violent. To set there and say that New York or California is safer is just plain idiotic,

Clearly you are the king of playing dumbazz, because you think that anecdotes define broader statistics. Point out a handful a situations that fit your world view instead of looking at the numbers in total. The only homicides you seem to care about are the ones committed on Democrats watches. Why not have the guts to care about all of them?

Are you going to address why the majority of the homicides aren’t committed in redneckville. Take Myrtle beach for example ( rated among the highest homicide rates in SC). How many of those people do you think actually are a resident of Horry county?
Again, I’ll address the red state homicide issue when you are willing to address/ admit that most of these homicides aren’t being committed by red voters. We can compare that if you want!
