23 Years Ago Today (long)

Oct 26, 2019, 8:26 AM

On October 26, 1996, the Tigers had a Bye week and the Braves lost the World Series to Yankees in 6 games. But to me it means a 2nd chance of life. I was in a horrific car crash that day and if not for a guardian angel wouldn't be here today. And no, alcohol was not involved.

I won't list all the injuries received from the crash and being thrown from the car, all I know is that I woke up in some pine trees where I shouldn't have. After extended time in the IC unit, 3 surgeries and 9 months recovering (with a 4th and related surgery in 2016), I was able to return to work and eventually have a fairly normal life (still limp at times).

It makes me thankful for everyday and being able to look down at the grass rather than up at it. What I think about most is all the things the Lord has given me and let me do since then. And one of the cherished experiences is this ride with the Tigers.

Go Tigers and let's all be thankful and enjoy the wonderful time!!

A great saying is "Man plans while God laughs." Sounds

like God had a plan for you far beyond that day.

Very thankful you were spared. I don't attempt

to delve into religious matters much on this site, but I also was in a bad accident two years ago that literally tore my car in half.

Still can't believe that I simply unbuckled the seat belt and stepped out of that wreckage with hardly a scrape. No doubts within me at all: my safety was an act of Providence...a fact (to me) that I'm not ashamed to admit.

Continued best wishes to you, my good Friend!
