2022 vs 2021 Team

Nov 6, 2022, 12:23 AM

....it's the same.

1. We cobbled together 8 plays in the off-season that DJ could run without any creative thought at all. These plays are designed to protect him, and make him seem better than he is. Most completions are screen passes or short yardage throws. He has a lifeless stare, and he is not a leader. Fun to hang out with, but not a General on the field.
2. Schedule was easier this year. State and Pitt on road 2021 = losses. 2 more minutes at FSU, and we were in trouble. Syracuse is not good. Bc lost to UConn....Wake dropped 2 in a row...
3. Our XBox defensive coordinator can not adjust for running plays up the middle. This is the main difference from last year. We miss Venebles badly, and his passion on the field. Players love Wes because he is soft and doesn't light a fire under their butt. He looks like a middle school kid lost on the playground. I understand he is the quiet type, and that is why he should be an analyst. Maybe he needs to go to the up to the press boxand let someone else communicate with the players. Has he ever stopped players coming off the field to coach them up?
4. I am wondering out loud what the breakdown is of the number of plays called by Dabo versus Brandon. If you think Dabo is not involved, watch closer while we are on offense? He has a playcard, and he covers his mouth like other teams are going to see that we are calling another screen pass.

No, we did lose 3 last year and had no chance at an ACC championship. This year, should we win out, we can still end up in the top 5 or 6. Not making a prediction, just saying we are better this year.
