2022 Recruiting Class Question

Feb 4, 2022, 6:51 AM

Before the decommits, I believe that Clemson had 16 commitments. Forget everyone that Clemson added after early signing day. What would be the final ranking of the Clemson class containing the original 16 players? Would that have been Clemson’s highest star power filled class of all time?

Texas A&M just signed the best class of all time. I am trying to figure out how much NIL impacted recruiting this year.

Ratings are based on points so fewer numbers of players is usually a lower ranking just based on math. Commitments mean nothing so there is no need even remembering them.

It's a moot point.

you cant forget the other signings as even with the three decommits we would have added players. But the three players were highly ranked and would have meant 3-5 spots up or down in the rankings

For year-end ratings Campbell was 21 and Everette 28 so solid 5 star guys. Sabb was a 4 star. Definitely 4-6 ranking swing. But keep in mind, with the openings they left we gained a few points. Doesn't really matter, time to move on. Fingers crossed a few of these guys outperform their rankings and maybe some 2023 guys see it as an opportunity. We really need a strong DL class in 2023.

Jimbo would be disgusted with you even questioning his ability to recruit. All kidding aside, as this becomes more the norm I look for schools to start using NIL recruiting as a badge of honor and even use it to pitch kids. "Last year our players got more NIL money than any other P5 school". Unfortunately, greed is a strong motivator.
