Both dominated and got it done when it mattered. 2014 was great and necessary with offensive struggles. 2018 was much different team, but that Dline was one of the best in college football history.

You can’t really compare the two. In 2014 we had no offense and tried to shorten games and win with defense. In 2018 we scored in bunches which resulted in more possessions for the other team and better stats. Considering everybody but the inside linebackers off the 2018 team are active in the NFL that’s a more talented D.

Sooooo tough. I'm assuming we are going strictly off of the defensive squad and not considering the offense of that year.

I give the edge to 2018 but that 2014 squad was nasty too.

The 2018 DL was probably the best we've ever had as a unit - one can make an argument that might be one of the best D-lines in college football history - though it's hard not to think back on the likes of Grady Jarrett and Vic Beasley (with Shaq Lawson in reserve!) and go: "wow" as well.

That 2014 D as a unit was probably the best overall, though. They were just nasty in a way I don't know if I've ever seen before or since. Teams just feared those guys, and their ability to take over a game...that was just a lightning-in-a-bottle-year, there.

2014 defense IMO

DEs: Vic Beasley, Shaq Lawson, Corey Crawford, Tavaris Barnes, Kevin Dodd

DTs: Grady Jarrett, DJ Reader, DeShawn Williams, Carlos Watkins, Scott Pagano

LBs: Stephone Anthony, BJ Goodson, Tony Steward, Ben Boulware, Travis Blanks, Dorian O’Daniel

CBs: Mackensie Alexander, Cordrea Tankersley, Garry Peters, Ryan Carter, Adrian Baker

S: Jayron Kearse, TJ Green, Robert Smith, Jadar Johnson

That’s tough
