Biggest early rankings surprise ?

Jul 25, 2013, 11:08 AM

I say UVA being anywhere near the top 20 is surprising ...to say the least. Mike London needs to win now , because he obviously is selling that dead atmosphere in Charlottesville

Where are the mighty gamecocks?

Jul 25, 2013, 11:08 AM

I don't see them in the top 30. :)

It's July and ole Stevie Ballgame is more focused on....

beer, broads and golf (probably in that order) rather than football or recruiting.

I am so glad that POS does not represent our fine University.

Tennessee #2?? That is a surprise.

Tennessee is ranked so high because of numbers.

Jul 25, 2013, 12:52 PM

Quantity over quality.

Shows you that preseason or recruiting rankings are BS

Jul 25, 2013, 1:11 PM

Nobody knows how these things are going to pan out.

Well...that's partly true....

Jul 25, 2013, 1:21 PM [ in reply to Tennessee is ranked so high because of numbers. ]

Two of the top rated players in the nation at their respective positions (a RB and a DB I believe) are from the Knowxille area and both have committed to the Vols. In addiion, of the tent-four commitments they have, twelve of them are 4-star rated.

Tennessee has been down for a few years and they are

traditionally a strong team, probably my distant second favorite. I don't think they will be down much longer and they will replace USC as on of the top three teams in the SEC East. A good coach will build that program up in no time. Too much success in the past.

who played basketball for the Vols back in the 50's so I am constantly hearing about their team. I completely agree that UT has the potential to be a very good program but I am not sure if Butch Jones is the coach who can take them where they want to go.

I had a chance to see them in Columbia one year. Given tickets on a Friday night. short notice and couldn't find no one to go with me.

The father-in-law is a BIG TIME UT booster....

Jul 25, 2013, 3:36 PM

and season ticket holder so I've had more than my fair share of opportunities to watch UT play over the years. Not a bad place to watch a game although I do think the stadium is a dump and they cram 115,000 a$$es into about 85,000 seats. It is also the only place I have attended a game where the women shout more profanity than the men.
