2 historical observations in the victory over LSU

Jan 2, 2013, 8:53 AM

1) This was like the breakthrough victory over Ohio State in 1978. We got trashed by Pitt in 1977 just like we got trashed by WVU in Orange Bowl. We came out in 1978 and lost a close one in Athens but we rebounded nicely and won the Gator over a big-time Big 10 foe who was only recently out of the national championship picture just like LSU this year. And we ended the season with 11 wins.

2) The game on Monday had the feel for me like the 1986 UGA game in Athens. It went back and forth and just like that game--Clemson had some circus plays to put the Tigers in position to kick the field goal.

BIG BIG VICTORY!

Can not wait for this season!

GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agree about #1 but hope we don't follow that pattern because 1979 turned out to be a mediocre year capped by a beating from Pittsburgh in the rainy cold Peach bowl.

1979 Peach Bowl loss was to Mike Singletary's Baylor Bears

And to say "rainy cold Peach Bowl" doesn't do it justice. :)

yep everyone I've ever heard mention it said it was as cold as they have ever been. As I recall it was freezing rain

And I had to sit right behind the Baylor band. Bad day.***

THE COLDEST by far I have ever been at a sporting event. And afterwards I got food poisoning at Steak and Shake. I have nothing good to say about that day. :)

It was Baylor, not Pittsburgh***

Thanks, however I hope history does not apply here???

I have been a CU fan for over 65 years. I was here when my Dad was on the GI bill in the late 40's. I have never seen such a dramatic upward curve for our football program under the motivated, positive purposefulness (going for a Nat. Championship), affirmative leadership of Dabo. Danny Ford was a great coach, but he was rebellious against administration. Being All In with Dabo includes President Barker, who also has our academics on an upward curve. I read a similar warning about what happened after our victory over Tenn. in 2003, however certainly Bowden was not nearly the leader/coach as Dabo.
Historical warnings do not hurt, however it is re-assuring that our program is in such capable hands. tigeron '66! GO TIGERS AND GRATITUDE TO OUR COACHES AND PRESIDENT BARKER!
