168 in the rpi - Time for BB to step up or be fired.

And this is before our embarassing loss tonight. We finished at 151 in the rpi last year. I think it is fair to tell him we need to finish in the top 100 next year to retain his job. If he does that, we need to be in the 75 range the following year with an NIT bid to show progress. The program is slipping to new lows quickly.

Eh.. It's Clemson baseketball. He's a nice guy. Might as

well keep him around. Good coach, just needs to get dirty recruiting. But again... It's Clemson basketball. Might as well let the nice guy hang around. Maybe he'll turn us around one day.

but I would love to see Shaka Smart or Greg Marshall on our sidelines...

especially Smart... He could win in the ACC... even at Clemson.

Only way Shaka comes is if we build a new arena and actually

spend money on our program.

Otherwise, he's got a great gig and will hold out for a better job. VCU is a better job than Clemson currently IMO.

We're kinda like Kentucky football. Sure it's the SEC, but who really cares about UK football unless they started getting serious.

great analogy***

I was never sold on the Brownell hire. I just don't think that style of play can win consistently at Clemson.

I was hoping they would go after Smart when Purnell left. But who knows what happened there, Smart said thanks but no thanks? The admin wanted to move on from the Purnell era? Admin didn't think Smart was ready for the ACC?

Remember, Brownell himself wasn't the first choice for the job.

Nor am I. Get the guy someone to recruit for him and he will do great things.

Brownell's style requires guys who can consistently hit

Mar 5, 2013, 10:22 PM

the 3 and the spot-up jumper. It's not his style that's the problem, it's that he hasn't been able to get the guys to execute it.

I don't think those type of players are going to be easy targets for Clemson regardless of the coach.

That is why I don't think his style will work. That is why I think Purnell was successful, he wasn't looking for basketball players, he wanted athletes, and played a much more exciting brand of basketball to bring those guys in.

Shaka wont come unless we nutt up and actually build a new facility.
