I don’t like a number that involves byes. The benefit of more teams is the impact of voters and pollsters is lessened and on field results are boosted. Byes just reverse that by letting polls decide to put some teams into a second round.

agree. 5 conference champs, 1 best of power 5 and 2 at large. The committee only gets to decide on 3 entries.

Plus you logic starts out flawed by supposing that a 12 team playoff would only have 3 SEC teams. 5-6 SEC teams in the playoffs would be the average each season. 4 teams would be rock bottom.

Who's to say the winner would always be from the top 4 though? And also, who cares really? Those 5-12 games would be super exciting.

Its a bad year to advocate for TWELVE. Not that there has EVER been a year with anywhere near that many legitimate title contending teams. That notion is beyond asinine.
