My 2 cents on what’s about to hit the fan.

I have a cousin who’s an A&M grad. He said that he’s not surprised that Texas and Oklahoma want to leave the Big 12. It wasn’t a good fit for A&M and they wanted to get out of there because of the Longhorns. Everything in the Big 12 is about Texas. So what will A&M do? They’ll vote no on admitting them and Okie, but they’ll have to suck it up. Too much money involved and Aggies aren’t going anywhere. They like the $EC money.
Notre Dame is not going to join the ACC, because they’re Notre Dame and they think they can go it alone as they always have. The ACC had their chance last year to get them, because ND had no choice in order to play. And we see how that turned out.
I’m curious as to see how Alabama will approach this. They’ve always been the Golden Child of the $EC. Now, they will have some serious competition every season. My A&M cousin said that Texas is on a different level as trying to take up all the oxygen in a conference. The bottom tier programs like Vandy, Mizzou, Arkansas, and the Coots will get knocked down even further, but I guess if all they care about is money coming to them, they might like them joining.
The ACC better get their s### together and plan for what’s coming. Although, I hate to see another Yankee school come into the ACC, they should go after Penn St. No one else is worth anything below the Mason-Dixon that the $EC hasn’t already snatched up. Tell Notre Dame to go pound sand. No to UCF and West Virginia. They’re Busch League.

11 of 14 SEC members have to agree...

in order for the league to add OU and Texas.
I think it's fair to say A&M is a firm no. The question is, can A&M find four other to align with them?
Should that occur, does OU and Texas make another run at the Pac 12?

Yep, it really sucks for A&M that the SEC is breaking their long time gentlemen's agreement to not allow another state school in if the current member does not want them. Shows the power of money, that the leaders of the SEC are willing to break their word.

Could easily get Missouri to say no to

Maybe Arkansas and LSU also. Texas and Oklahoma joining would hurt those west teams the most

I thought the generosity the ACC showed to ND last year in putting together a schedule for them would be used as leverage when the league did come calling for full membership. If the ACC does ask and ND says no then they can kick rocks....kick em out all together. I personally think it would be awesome to throw a big FU to the SEC and join forces with Big Ten to make a giant super conference....now that would move the needle and stuff the coffers. I know it's not gonna happen but would be amazing.

I think the ACC needs Notre Dame more than Notre Dame needs the ACC and Notre Dame knows it.
As long as the balance of power is in the Bee Bee Head's favor, that ACC has no other option but to continue to hurry-up and wait.

I get that Big but ######....the ACC laid down for them when they needed it most. If they can't see that or worse don't respect it, then the ACC needs to wash their hands of them. I'm tired of the ACC pandering to those those fools...it's time.

but right now, Notre Dame is holding most of the cards.
If the ACC did tell the Bee Bee Heads to go pi$$-up a rope, I suspect the B1G or even the $EC would take them.

Yeah that is a fear. If they knew what was good for them they would be better off joining the ACC, not from a money standpoint but they would automatically become the 2nd best team in the ACC. The road to the conf championship game and playoffs is considerably harder in both of those conferences because of they're depth.

Good post, helps me think. TAM does not want Texas in the SEC, but will not be able to stop that if Texas wants in.
With playoff expansion in the works ND has less incentive than ever to join the ACC.
I don't think Alabama will vote no, nor anyone except TAM as the yearly $$ will increase for all. More hurt would be teams like LSU, Florida, Auburn and Georgia as their chances of a SEC title will diminish. Most other schools care more as to $$ than winning.
There are no good choices for the ACC (Cincinnati, WVA, UCF)

The most reasonable choice for the ACC if Texas and OU join the SEC is to go after a few B1G schools and/or the SEC teams who voted no. The best case is several schools from the B1G decide to leave and a couple of SEC schools do as well. The worst case is nothing happens and the ACC gets left behind. If there were B1G schools pissed about last football season and the lack of leadership by their conference it might be a possibility. If someone like Florida got pissed about OU being added to the SEC East it would be great for the ACC. I don't really think that would happen but having all the major Florida schools plus Penn State, Ohio State (makes me cringe to write that) and maybe a Michigan would give a strong conference and lots of tv sets.
