The problem is, it was DJ from our 2020 class.

In our 2020 class we had the number 1QB, the #1RB and the number #1DT. Not a bad class.

But we missed big time on two of those.

And the critical issue is missing on DJ. He’s just not a good quarterback. I’m comfortable saying he’s played to the best of his ability. He just doesn’t have the instincts, intuition, vision and decision making. He’s just not a good quarterback.

There’s no mystery here.

Unfortunately, that level was at a small, private school of about 800 students in a state with eight times the population of ours and a long list of high schools with 3,000 to 5,000 students with teams playing in the highest 7A level.

How would his talents fared at the helm of one of those programs?

I think his recruitment was a colossal misfire, which happens occasionally. Our mistake was failure to acknowledge such and make the QB change prior to the start of last season. Further, I believe those inadequate skills wreaked a psychological unravelling within the team. Hence, overall poor play.

Dj is the biggest bust in Clemson history. Roscoe Crosby and Willie Korn come to mind as well but they had extenuating circumstances.

D bowman was 2020, but I don’t think he was number one. Think bijan Robinson or Zach Evan’s probably had that title.
