Jake Fruhmorgen has decided to leave the football program at the University of Florida on Wednesday after just arriving for Summer session this week according to multiple reports.
Fruhmorgen made the decision to transfer from Clemson in early January and was going to have to sit out the 2017 season because of transfer rules. It appears that it might not be in his best interest to play football at this time and hopefully, he can continue to work towards his valuable college degree. Fruhmorgen told TigerNet back in March that Florida was the best fit for him football-wise. "It's just the best place for me. I built a great relationship with the coaches at Florida and it is the best fit," Fruhmorgen said. Fruhmorgen started the first eight games of the season but suffered a shoulder injury that kept him out after the Florida St. game. A few weeks later, head coach Dabo Swinney said Fruhmorgen had left the team to deal with personal issues. Before Clemson, he played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl; played offensive tackle in high school, but played center and offensive guard in the game. He was the No. 73 player and No. 16 offensive tackle in the nation by 247Sports.com (23rd-best signee entering the ACC), the No. 89 player and No. 8 offensive tackle in the nation and No. 18 player in Florida by Rivals.com, the No 93 player and No. 7 offensive tackle in the nation and No. 18 player in Florida by ESPN. He led his team to an 11-2-1 record as a junior.
