Michael Wade committed to Clemson on Wednesday immediately after received an offer from Clemson. Wade had received offers from Maryland, Duke, and Vanderbilt, but Clemson had always been in Wade's heart.

"I wouldn't say the Clemson offer was the one I was waiting on, but it was always in my heart to go to Clemson. If the offer didn't come, I would have been fine, but it did and it felt right."

How did the Greer native's commitment go down?

"Coach Spence called my Dad Tuesday night, and he said they wanted to offer, so I had Tuesday night to think it over. I called and talked to Coach Blackwell, and he said they wanted to offer. Everything felt right so I went ahead and committed."

Wade's father played for the National Championship team in 1981, but he wants it to be clear his father did not push him to Clemson.

"We are just happy that it is ended and worry about the upcoming season instead of camps. Now I can work on in my high school season, and not worry about performing well at a camp. My Dad is very happy for me. He would have supported anywhere. My Mom was a scholarship volleyball player at Clemson, so she is very excited for me as well."

Wade had his chance to impress offensive coordinator Rob Spence at the one day camp earlier this week.

"The camp went well. It rained a little bit. Coach Spence took some of the quarterbacks and let us throw. I think I tested pretty well. I ran a 4.65 forty."

Wade's commitment could be a big step towards another commitment. Wade's teammate Richard Jackson could commit to Clemson in the near future. Jackson does hold an offer from Clemson and will be reporting for a kicking camp Sunday night.

"The coaches asked me to talk to Richard. We are great friends, but he is his own person. He has not told me where he is leaning. If he ends up at Clemson that would be great, but he will make his own decision."

We will continue to keep you updated on the two outstanding prospects from the upstate of South Carolina.
