One area where Clemson may have not fully addressed their needs with the class of 2006 is at running back. Tallahassee running back Marcus Sims got involved with Clemson late, but he has a valid interest in the Tigers.
Sims’ father called Dabo Swinney at the end of November to gauge the Tigers interest in his son as a running back. Swinney jumped on the opportunity to set up an official visit for Sims. Sims confirmed Tuesday evening that he is indeed coming to Clemson this weekend. “Yes, sir I am coming to Clemson this weekend.” Sims spoke with Coach Swinney on Sunday to finalize the details of his official visit. “I talked to Coach Swinney Sunday. I don’t know who will be my host. We just talked about the trip and the arrangements. He said he wanted me to see how Clemson football is done.” Many believe Sims will follow the family ties to Florida State, but Sims did describe what he is looking for this weekend in Clemson. “Basically, see if I fit in. I am just looking for that feeling, that this is place I need to be. I want to see the coaching staff and players and how I fit with the. I want to see what it is all about.” Sims’ older brother Ernie announced on Monday he would forgo his senior season and enter the NFL Draft. The younger Sims said Tuesday his brother’s decision has had no effect on his consideration of the Seminoles.
