D'Vontrey Richardson currently sits atop Clemson's recruiting board at quarterback. Brent Schaeffer's decison will not affect Richardson status with Clemson. Richardson is a tremendous athlete, who could play a variety of positions, but quarterback is his priority.
"A lot of schools are recruiting me as a safety. Clemson is recruiting me as a quarterback. I want to go somewhere that is going to give me a shot at quarterback." Richardson has offers from Clemson, UCLA, Georgia, Alabama, and a host of others. Due to playing baseball, Richardson has not been able to narrow down his list any. "I am still wide open. After baseball season, I want to begin to narrow it down. I am going to attend the one-day camp at Clemson. I don't really have any favorites, but Clemson's offense is what I like. They run a spread offense similiar to what my school runs, so I think I could make the adjustment pretty smoothly. They showed interest in my teammate Lavelle (Parker), and I would like to go to the same school as him." Clemson has not offered Parker, and at this time we do not believe they will. Georgia appeared to be a strong contender for Richardson, but the commitment of another top quarterback could have pushed the Bulldogs. Watch for Alabama to come on strong as they have offered both Parker and Richardson.
