ESPNU showcased a regular season game between Dorman and Byrnes on national television on October 29, 2010. Much of the reason for the national exposure was because of the two prestigious SC programs colliding and ESPN's #1 ranked wide receiver Charone Peake of Dorman. The Rebels' secondary was beaten by Peake for most of the game. He finished with 5 catches for 134 yards and a touchdown in a 21-14 Dorman victory.
The Byrnes defense didn’t want to make the same mistake twice in the 4A State title this past weekend by letting Peake beat them. Instead, Byrnes used the same strategy when they faced star UGA receiver, A.J. Green from Summerville, in 2007, by rolling a safety over to Peake and double teaming the superstar on every single snap. It was extremely effective in the this year’s 4A state title game, as Peake finished with just three catches for 14 yards and no touchdowns. “We haven’t really seen anything like that all season, so we didn’t react well to it,” Peake told the Hearld-Journal. Byrnes also made sure that Peake would not beat them on punt returns by kicking away from the talented WR, and he didn’t get to make a single return on special teams. Byrnes ended up winning the game comfortably 34-14 to win their 3rd 4A title in 4 seasons and 7th State title in 11 years. Peake finished a superb season with 65 catches for 1053 yards and 10 TDs. His Dorman team lost only their sixth game in four years while compiling an incredible record of 51-6.
