Consensus 5-star defensive tackle Trent Thompson from Albany, GA has Clemson in his top four schools according to an interview with the AJC .

“Georgia is still my leader, but people are pushing hard to knock them off the top,” he said. “Alabama is getting close. USC was a great visit, and they’re getting close. I like Clemson, Auburn and Florida State a lot.

“Right now, I think it’s Georgia, USC, Alabama and Clemson at the top. Then Florida State and Auburn are not far behind.”

Several recruiting services have Thompson as the nation's #1 overall player for 2015.

He has offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, Ohio State, Penn State, South Carolina, South Florida, Tennessee, and many others.

In 2013, he had 83 tackles and 12 sacks. In 2012, he had 65 tackles and 12 tackles for loss and 5 sacks.

He visited Clemson for an unofficial visit back in early April.
