With all of the extensive recruiting databases, sometimes coaches still find one that slipped through the cracks. Antwon Murchison was an unknown to followers of recruiting before Sunday night, but the most important people were well aware of his talents.

"I called Coach West back on his cell phone. We talked for about 5 or 10 minutes, then I discussed it with my family. We decided it was best that I make a commitment to Clemson."

Murchison was once recruited by John Lovett, but it was Coach West that sealed the deal.

"It was very important to me that Coach West closed things out for me. When your position coach recruits you, it really makes you feel like he wants you. I am very excited to play for Coach West. I know they led the ACC in sacks last year, and I have no problem trying to live up to that standard."

Last summer, Murchison turned heads at the Clemson camp. Also, he has a pretty neat story about how his recruiting was helped.

"I did the fundamentals at a pretty high speed, but then I had to leave. I was playing AAU basketball, so I was not able to stay the whole week. I led my conference in sacks this year. That is how I was able to get noticed. Nobody really comes to watch Pinecrest to watch for players. My head coach and other coaches did a great job of promoting me to coaches. I am very thankful for the help I received."

Murchison averaged, according to his coach, 3.4 sacks a game and 5.0 tackles per game. In a limited role at tight end, he produced four catches for 140 yards and two touchdowns.

Murchison is currently playing basketball for Pinecrest, and they are off to a 5-0 start. Murchison will play strictly football at the college level. On Tuesday, Murchison is slated to be on the "Overdrive" at 4:30 barring a change in his practice schedule.
