We have already mentioned that Clemson is going to make defensive end a
priority in the class of 2007. The good news for the Tigers is two of their top targets are in-state. We had update last night with Fort Dorchester’s Carlos Dunlap. Dunlap will battle Cheraw’s Cliff Matthews for the #1 defensive end spot in the state of South Carolina. Dunlap and Matthews are going to be highly recruited prospects. Matthews has already picked up three offers. “I have offers from Tennessee, South Carolina, and Clemson. I would put Georgia right there on my list, too. I am going to junior days at South Carolina, Clemson, and Georgia.” Is there one school that is pushing out to an early lead with Matthews? “Clemson has really made a good impression on me. Clemson was the first place that I attended a game. The atmosphere for the Miami game was great. Even when the team was down late, the fans were still into the game. I could see how the players really fed off of the fans.” Matthews will work as a tight end and a defensive end for Cheraw next season. Dabo Swinney is the recruiter of record with Matthews.
