The Tennessee Volunteers have been a longtime miner of the Palmetto State. Clemson is looking to return the favor this year, and pull out linebacker Chris Walker.
Walker has built up an impressive offer sheet through the middle of May "Tennessee, Clemson, Arkansas, Memphis, LSU, Vanderbilt, and Miami have all offered me. I am staying open, but any school who has offered me, certainly has a shot." Walker is very close to his family and community, and he says that makes it appealing to stay close by. "Coach (Tommy) West is building a good program at Memphis. They really have chance to make some progress in their conference. A lot of teams have left the Conference USA, and they have shot to dominate. My family and friends have watched me play all my life, and it would be very easy for them to watch me play four more years at Memphis. There are some other schools, who are within driving distance as well." Staying close to home is going to be a big factor for Walker, but he says he knows he has to find the best fit. "I am going to visit some schools and see where I fit in best. If I fall in love with a place away from home, my family would understand. Everyone wants what is best for me." Clemson defensive coordinator Vic Koenning paid Walker a visit last week. "I know Coach Koenning was by and he told my coach he wanted me to come to Clemson for a visit. We are going to come down the first or second week in June I believe. I knew Coach (Chris) Rumph, when he was at Memphis. I am glad he is recruiting me at Clemson." We will continue to track Walker, as the offers continue to come in for this Memphis star.
