Kendrick Johnson was expected to be a January enrollee for Clemson. Computer problems at his high school made it difficult to get Johnson's transcripts to Clemson in time for him to enroll in classes.
"My school couldn't get the transcript to Clemson in time. I wasn't going to be able to register for class. My mom and I decided it was best for me to just wait and go in July. It gives me more time to get my mind and work on myself." Johnson is taking one class at Dillard High School this semester, and he says its not all that bad. "I have one class. It is just something to do. It is not that bad. I am thinking about running track. I have never ran track before. I am going to spend a lot of time in the weight room and running the beaches." Johnson says he will not use the extra time to field any calls from other schools. "It was fun at first, then it got hard. I committed to Clemson early, and a lot of others schools started pressuring me. It wouldn't look right for me to back out on my commitment. Finally, I just said look this is where I am going, stop calling me." Johnson said he will be one of 22 seniors to sign a Division 1-A scholarship on Signing Day.
