Clemson’s lone commitment from the Palmetto State going into the first Signing Day is officially a Tiger now.

More on Williams…

Greg Williams - 3-star LB - Swansea, S.C.

Committed since: 6/21/18.

Listed size: 6-3 235

Recruiter: Brent Venables.

Brings to Clemson: Williams is one of the sizable LB prospects in the Clemson 2019 class but shows good acceleration to the ball and has proved to be a disruptive force for Swansea. Williams has good hands and showcased that with four interceptions this season. As a junior, Williams was on the record as one of the leaders in the Midlands with over 100 tackles.

Depth chart fit: Williams is one of five projected signees at linebacker filling a void left by upwards of four moving on from the position after this season. Williams has evaluations as both an inside and outside linebacker from national recruiting sites, but with multiple inside linebackers in this signing class, outside could be the destination to start out.

Brent Venables analysis: "He's a guy who came to camp last year and I'd said his best football is ahead of him. He worked out and Tre Lamar was helping out in camp and you put those two together and Greg is broader and longer - probably longer by four or five inches than Tre Lamar in his length. Think Greg can be a really, really big linebacker and might grow out of it and put his hand in the dirt one day (on the defensive line). He would be a terrific athlete there doing that. We took Greg as an athlete he can do a number of things...Really excited about Greg. He really closes to the ball well. Has excellent hips and can really run. Good instincts. We get him polished up and he has a chance to be a really good player."

Number to know: 5 - Williams was a leader for the S.C. Shrine Bowl team with five stops, a sack and 1.5 total TFL.
