One of the top-rated defensive backs nationally and an elite prospect in the state of Virginia included Clemson in his top schools list Tuesday.

Four-star athlete Cam’Ron Kelly (Chesapeake, Va.) has the Tigers in a group with Penn State, Oklahoma, Virginia, Washington State, Notre Dame, Auburn and Ohio State.

Kelly visited Virginia Tech and Clemson for Junior Day events in January and visited Penn State, Oklahoma and Washington State this spring as well. Kelly also visited Clemson multiple times last fall.

He is rated as high as the No. 12 athlete in the nation by Rivals as a consensus top-250 player overall.

Fellow Hampton Roads product Sheridan Jones (Norfolk, Va.) recently committed to Clemson and said he’s recruiting Kelly for the Tigers. Clemson has three DBs in the 2019 class total so far, with safeties Joseph Charleston and Lannden Zanders also already on board.

A typo was corrected in Kelly's top schools list.
