"Clear, who will graduate from Clemson and could be eligible this coming season, is the son of former Illini football player Sam Clear, who was a member of the team in 1979 and 1980."

"Clear, an honor student who lists Hoover, Ala., as his home, initially picked Clemson over Illinois, North Carolina State, Northwestern, Stanford, Vanderbilt, UCLA and Syracuse. But he has not yet seen significant playing time with the Tigers."
