Monday morning, the latest in a long list of offers for the 6-foot, 215-pounder.

Green’s head coach at Hermitage, Patrick Kane, said that his junior running back is the “total package.”

“He has that size, and he has been timed several times as a sub-4.4 40-yard dash,” Kane told TigerNet Monday afternoon. “He is just the total package. When it comes to a running back, you want size, speed and power and he has all three. He has been offered by pretty much by somebody in every major conference in the country.”

As a junior, he was named first-team All Metro, All-State underclassmen, and first-team All-District. As a sophomore, he was a First-team All-Region selection.

Green rushed for 1,500 yards and 19 touchdowns as a junior, and the offers started pouring for Green’s services.

Kane said, however, that Green has responded in a mature way to all of the attention and that the junior learned some valuable lessons from former teammate Curtis Grant.

Grant is a former Hermitage linebacker who signed in 2011 with Ohio St. after spending most of his senior season as one of the top five players in the country.

“He was very fortunate in that he got to see the same thing with Curtis,” Kane said. “Curtis went through that process, and he saw how Curtis handled it and how Curtis kept his focus on helping the team. He is just excited about all of the interest.”

Kane said he knew Green had a chance to be special when Green was a freshman.

“He was on my varsity as a freshman, he and kicker John Stiebel,” Kane said. “They were both on the varsity as freshmen, and they are the only two that have stayed on the varsity a full season in my 11 years at Hermitage. That should tell you something right there. As a sophomore, he started at running back for a team that made it to the state championship.”

Among the schools making offers are Auburn, Arkansas, Michigan, Ole Miss, N.C. State, Ohio St., Oklahoma, Penn St., Purdue, Rutgers, South Carolina, Tennessee, Southern Cal, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

Green grew up an Ohio St. fan, and many think that he might follow Grant to the Buckeyes, but Kane said Green is keeping all of his options open and just plans to keep working hard.

“He is just a really hard-working kid,” Kane said. “He loves to work, and with that work ethic he can go places.”
