Lawson talks Clemson visit |
Carl Lawson
Carl Lawson Lawson is the nation’s No. 1 weakside defensive end prospect out of Alpharetta (GA) Milton who committed to Auburn last March. However, he has taken a few visits as of late and Clemson may very well be in the mix for a player the Tigers need. TigerNet spoke with Lawson Monday evening, and he told TigerNet that he and his family had a great visit. “I had to take an SAT prep course in Atlanta Saturday morning, so I didn’t get there until Saturday afternoon,” Lawson said. “When we got to Clemson, we went to the football banquet and just met with everybody there. I got to talk to Brian Dawkins. He talked about his struggles in life and what it takes to be successful in life. It was fun.” Lawson also got to spend quality time with Jeff Davis, who still works at Clemson and helps out in an advisory role with members of the football team. “Mostly, I spoke with Jeff Davis,” Lawson said. “He was telling me about the program, and what he brought to the table as a player relations guy. He was great to talk to. He seems like a really good guy.” On Sunday, Lawson spent time at head coach
Dabo SwinneyDabo Swinney “We went to Coach Swinney’s house, and we had a lot of fun,” he said. “We just hung out and we ate really good, and we played video games and things like that. It was awesome just hanging out with some of the guys.” Lawson said he spent time with 2013 recruit
Ebenezer Ogundeko Ebenezer Ogundeko “Tajh did a great job of showing us around,” he said. “Big Mon, we talk whenever we get together. Mostly I hung out with Ebo, though, because I know him the best” Lawson said he spoke with Swinney on Sunday. “He just told me he would love to have me at Clemson,” he said. “He told me a little bit more about the program, and the things I could accomplish. He knows I love the family atmosphere at Clemson, and that that means a lot to me.” Lawson is supposed to visit Tennessee, but told TigerNet that he didn’t know if he was going to take any more visits, and said “no comment” when asked if he was still going to wait until National Signing Day to announce his decision. As a senior, Lawson had 26.5 sacks and 35 tackles for loss. As a junior, he had 15 sacks and 31 tackles for loss.
