Four-star South Gwinnett High School (Ga.) defensive end Justin Mascoll signed his NLI with Clemson Wednesday morning.

Making a March commitment, Mascoll called Clemson his "dream school" in picking the Tigers over offers nationwide, including Alabama, Georgia and Florida State.

"I just felt like Clemson was the right fit for me," Mascoll told TigerNet. "I had really grown to love Clemson since the eighth grade."

Justin Mascoll - 4-star DE - South Gwinnett HS (Ga.)

Committed since: 3/17/17

Recruiter: Brent Venables

Listed size: 6-4 237

Brings to Clemson: Mascoll uses his burst off the line to blow by defenders, but has also shown the ability to get off blocks and step back and break up a pass. He fits the mold of an Austin Bryant in playing style, and that's a model the Tigers will take in class where he can complement a Xavier Thomas on the other side. Assistant coach Mickey Conn said on Clemson's signing day show Wednesday that he is a "really special player" and a "speed guy." Conn said that he is versatile enough to drop into coverage and a just a "baller."

Assistant coach Todd Bates said on Clemson's signing day that his athleticism is "off the charts" and very versatile being able to play some linebacker.

Depth chart fit: NFL decisions will set the tone for the defensive end group by summer enrollment, but with Thomas coming in early and two Tigers coming back from injury (Richard Yeargin and Logan Rudolph), a redshirt seems to be the in the cards.

Number to know: 21.5 - Mascoll's tackles for loss over the last two seasons, totaling 127 stops in all.
