Playing time breakdown: Foster, Clemson D-line step up in Thomas' absence

by -

Clemson pulled away from Louisville in the second half and was able to mix in a good amount of players on offense and defense.

The most players saw action on offense, with 29 Tigers playing - including all five running backs and 10 offensive linemen. In the running back group, Darien Rencher scored his first career TD in five snaps.

Tee Higgins co-led the Clemson receiver snaps with Justyn Ross, with Higgins limited to one catch for three yards in three targets but close to completions on a couple sideline throws. Ross hauled in five catches for 55 yards and a TD.

Isaiah Simmons continues to be highly-productive, posting a pair of sacks and eight stops. James Skalski posted a team-best 10 tackles and a sack.

At defensive end, starter Xavier Thomas was out due to injury and those snaps were distributed pretty evenly between Justin Foster (39), Logan Rudolph (35), K.J. Henry (29), Justin Mascoll (27), with Foster breaking out with seven tackles, 3.5 for loss, with two sacks.

Freshman Tyler Davis continues to lead the interior D-line in snaps and he put up seven tackles (0.5 TFL) -- Nyles Pinckney matching him in tackles and posting 1.5 for loss.
