Former Clemson standout gets contract extended in CFL

Former Clemson defensive end Da'Quan Bower had his contract extended with the CFL's Edmonton Eskimos through the 2019 season according to a team release.

In 2017 as a CFL rookie, he had 18 tackles, seven sacks, and an interception.

In five NFL seasons, Bowers has 69 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, seven sacks, seven pass break-ups and two fumble recoveries. The Bamberg high school product had 21 tackles, 1.5 sacks, a fumble recovery and a pass break up in 2014.

Bowers was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the second round with the 51st overall pick after concerns over medical issues with his knee. He had 67 tackles, 26 tackles for loss and 15.5 sacks and led the nation in sacks and tackles for loss at Clemson in 2010. He was also named first-team All-ACC, ACC Defensive Player of the Year, unanimous first-team All-American and winner of the Bronko Nagurski Trophy.
