Clemson in Top 2 in ESPN's 2016 Way-Too-Early Top 25 |
Clemson is still ranked #2 behind only defending national champions Alabama in
ESPN's latest Way-Too-Early Top 25 rankings on Tuesday.
"With junior quarterback Deshaun Watson coming back for what will probably be his final college season, the Tigers might be poised to be even more explosive on offense than they were last season," ESPN said. "If Clemson is going to reach the CFP National Championship Game for the second season in a row, however, it's going to have to rebuild its defense. The Tigers should be pretty solid up front, but their secondary remains a concern heading into the summer. Three starting defensive backs left early for the NFL draft, and then cornerbacks Kaleb Chalmers (dismissed from the team) and Adrian Baker (torn knee ligaments) were lost during the spring." Some changes to the rankings include Baylor dropping out of the Top 25 while TCU moved in and Tennessee being included in the Top 10. ACC schools in the ESPN rankings include Clemson (#2), Florida State (#4), North Carolina (#18), Miami (#24) and Louisville (#25). ESPN's Top 25 rankings 1. Alabama 2. Clemson 3. Michigan 4.
