Great comment by Dabo in talking about the things you don't see in the talent of a QB, specifically "their will to prepare". This speaks to the kind of character he recruits and culture this program has. I'm going to go ahead and get my hopes up for this season.
Go Tigers!

Me too 83, me too.
Here's one thing I don't understand. If I'm a high school QB, (and I'm so glad we're blessed with Cade commit) I'd be breaking the door down to come to Clemson just to sit and learn in the QB room with guys like Trevor and DJ. And you get the added benefit of livin in them hills... And, Good Lord willing, know who your coaches are going to be. How could you turn that down.
Can you imagine TP and Hunter Helms getting to sit and study both of them last year.

I asked someone the other day

am I crazy to think that DJ may become or already be a better passer than Trevor? At this point we don’t know but from what I saw last year in the ND game I don’t think I’m crazy to think that may be a possibility.

Being a better thrower does not necessarily make a better passer or a better QB.

all that DJ has God given physical tools. But, he still has to show that mental side of the game that all champions have, that nearly indefinable "it" that you only know when you see "it" in action. I think he will show it, and when he does, watch out. The pundits will drool themselves silly, much like they did over Trevor his freshman year. Then, just like with Trevor, they will get jealous, and look for any little thing they can pick apart.

If he was at Alabama, 0310 or UGA they would already be talking about him winning the Heisman. He will earn it at Clemson but he might just win a Heisman.

no longer be able to boast that they have a Heisman winner and we don't.
They also have an empty trophy case and we don't.

I much rather have another NC, then we can boast that we have 4 things SCar does not.

I would too. This year and I really hope we go through O31O and Bama to get it. Although for recruiting purposes, wouldn't mind another beatdown on Oklahoma or Oregon/USC. About time for the committee to push a p12 into the playoffs.

I already think DJ has the mental side of the game - sure, more development will come but he is there. That was on display at ND. Not a perfect game but with short notice Covid havoc for a Freshman, it was more impressive than TL's first outing. Only DW4 has as strong of a "wow" moment. You don't expect DJ to have that strong of an outing in that environment.

Not having a solid backup makes it critical that our OL up their game this season. We no longer have the luxury of another DJ to step in for a Trevor or a Chase Brice on the bench. We’ve had security blanket the last few years but now it’s gone. Praying DJ stays injury free!
