SC House of Reps has a bill to force CU

to keep track and field. That precedent concerns me on multiple levels. If they require a sport to be funded, can they require a sport to be defunded, i.e. football.

?????????? I doubt tons of money or any lobbyists can make that happen. Coots get a football team. That was a great post.
My concern is if the state legislature forces Clemson to reinstate a sport IMO it opens the door up for the legislature to stick their nose in other sports issues which could be very dangerous in the future. The legislature may feel they can interfere in other state schools sports issues going forward.

Yes, they could defund football but then the State Senate would probably force a bill to refund the police and arrest those idiots in the House.

The House tries some crazy stunts but most of the time the Senate nixes them and hopefully that will be the case here.

They were hammering Clemson in floor speeches. Basically calling us racist. Said only 6% of student body black. Mostly All Usuc grads speaking SC House is not Clemson friendly. Senate is. Of course they failed to mention only 9% of usuc columbia is black
Clemson did make one mistake in all this. It was not about money it is all title 9. Just say that and not use money as cover. That too easily called out when people see record IPTAY numbers etc Furman tired same cover using money when it was also a title 9 issue that led to getting rid baseball.

No way this will go through. The money clemson gets from the state is getting less and less so they are losing their pull..
