The stars have lined up over the past few years to allow football's best and brightest young stars to build rivalries with one another in high school only to be afforded the opportunity to stoke those fires in college. TL16's friendship/rivalry with Justin Fields from their HS days in Georgia and the "Who's the #1 player in the country?" duel blossomed into 2 dramatic matchups in the CFB Playoffs. DJU had quite the rivalry in HS with Bryce Young out in Cali and now the two look set on a collision course in the near future (quite possibly this year) in the playoffs themselves. And now with the addition of Cade Klubnik we have another potential rivalry brewing. If Cade eventually takes the reigns after DJU and Ewers emerges at Ohio St., then we could see the trend continue. Klubnik bested the consensus #1 player Ewers in the TX HS state championship last year in a match up between two of the biggest powerhouse Longhorn state programs and will have a chance at a repeat this year. Pretty cool college football backstories to give the pundits and the fans plenty to write and rant about.
keeps getting more and more storylines to cover. Might have to be a multiple-part documentary...
Good times 'round here
We'll be having a 30 for 30 doc almost on a yearly basis ??????
You legit could create some interesting stuff based on football history:
-coming out of nowhere to win a title in the 80s and the Ford years.
-the 90s where we were lost after having success for a number of years. From ACC kings to hoping to make a bowl game.
-the 2000s where we would pull off upsets and be slapped with a god-forsaken term that has now been rebranded for winning big games and championships.
The big whiff in 08 that led to Dabo becoming head coach and competing for their first ACC Championship since the conference split.
-the 2010s where Dabo was on the hot seat and made the change to win our first ACC Championship but lose 5 straight to those chickens but overcame that to win 2 natties, multiple conference titles, and establishing Clemson as one of the if not THE model program in college football regarding a balance of model student athletes and a well run program.
(The 2010s would be split into 2 or 3 docs itself).
And the 2020s are just getting goin so I expect to see more of the same in epic battles, stories, and championships ??
