Recruiting Updates and Notes from Spring Game

Today some major prospects from both the class of 22 and 23 were attendance for the Spring game. They were not able to meet with coaches but it did give them a chance to look around campus. 3 out of the 4 commits were at the game today, with only Blake Miller not coming. 4* in state tight end prospect Jaleel Skinner wanted to attend but he has a track meet today. Clemson is most likely top 2 with Florida. Florida is pitching the Kyle Pitts role, and Skinner is concerned that Clemson's tight ends become to bulky. He plans on attending the Elite Retreat in June. 4* CB Jeadyn Lukus out of Mauldin was in attendance today. He is a strong Clemson lean, he even was Fonged to Clemson this week, with UNC running second and OSU in third. 4* in state WR Antonio Williams attended today. Williams does not have an offer Clemson, but this would certainly help his case showing that he is recruiting Clemson. He would be the next wide receiver that I think would get an offer, either him or McMillan. 4* CB Daylen Everette was also in attendance. I also think that he is a Clemson lean at the moment. 4* CB Toriano Pride also made the trip. I believe he also plans on coming to the Elite Retreat, which would be the weekend after he visits OSU for an official. This is a Clemson vs. OSU battle, that I think Clemson leads at the moment, but it will be decided by visits. 4* Ryan Turner spent the weekend at Clemson with his family. He spent last weekend at OSU. Another Clemson vs. OSU battle.
All of that is great news for the Tigers who are no worse than second for most of those recruits, and with most of them being DB's it is at a position of need. I think that Clemson only planned on taking two DBs but if you can get three, I would take three.
Two class of 23 prospects, that I know of, were at the game. 4* CB Avieon Terrell was with his older brother AJ. I think that Clemson wants to get him in the fold as quick as possible, and I think that there is a good chance that happens. 4* top 8 OT Payton Kirkland was able to make the trip Saturday to Clemson. No idea where they stand there, but a good sign that he made the visit today.
Things are starting to heat up, and June is going to be the biggest Month in recruiting history, I expect Clemson to be making major moves once June rolls around.

Good post. I learn from all, but some just do one liners. It looks like 2021 will again be a great year.

I believe that Tony Elliot is now spear heading the recruitment because he switched to TEs. The good recent news for Clemson is that a few months ago Skinner named Florida as his leader , and there was serious concern that he may make a commitment. However, he held off and I think if Clemson sells themselves the right way they can land him.

Big miss? Why? Skinner is a nice prospect but not an upgrade from what we have on campus plus we have had no problems

Information is gold. I was wondering who came. I know you said the coaches couldn't have contact but could the players hang with them. Show the campus, facilities et al. Tia.
The more the bond with existing potential teammates can help tremendously. I sure hope the staff will pitch the Pitts angle as well. He was definitely a game changer and made their offense much more dynamic. With our oline seeming to be on much better footing, we won't need the big bulky TE. Jmho.

Wanted to add a quick comment that I know Pride was able to meet and spend a lot of time with the 3 Clemson commits that were on campus, which is a great sign for Clemson as he would be CB #2.

Thanks for the update. Do you think we can pitch Skinner the same as Fla and use him more like a Pitts?

Like I said it was great that he held off on a commitment a few months ago. I think the fact that TE is now the lead recruiter helps and proximity also helps. The door was open to Florida because Clemson was pursing other guys, Delp and Johnson, just as hard if not harder than Skinner. I think I would still like Clemson in the long haul right now.

No issues great question, Clemson is going to have to show that their tight ends do not get too bulky. Skinner will have to be willing to block though to fit in Clemson's system. There is still a good chance that he could go to Florida.

If we do miss out, I feel like we will be fine at TE anyway.

I agree Briningstool is the best TE we have brought in he just needs to add a few more pounds in the Summer.

Any rumblings about the transfer portal after the injury to TP? Realize we have some talent coming in this summer but still.....this leaves us dangerously thin at QB.

Dabo said we were ok with who we have plus the three guys coming in this summer. My guess is they will take a look at the portal but only at grad transfers as we don’t want to jeopardize our 22 commit or 23 prospects. Basically looking for a one year insurance policy but would need to be the right guy

The worry with two of the QB commits is one is projected to be a 1st round baseball draft pick and the other is around the 3-4 round range. If both go the baseball route that’s very bad for Clemson.

As of now I have heard nothing. I agree that it would put us thin at QB, but most of the talent in the portal is already gone.

Brenen Thompson is needed... badly. He'd bring something to the WR room that we haven't had in a while.

I could not agree more, Thompson brings a dynamic ability that we have missed. He reminds me a lot of Jaylen Waddle.
