Respect the bison....they can trample you any time they feel like it. You will see people get waaaaaaaaaaay too close. On occasion you will see them pay for it.

So you're saying that I shouldn't try to pet a bison?

That is exactly what I am saying. You’ll see. Bison are animals that TV doesn’t do justice. THEY ARE HUGE!!!
The last time I was at Yellowstone, I saw a tourist try to get a picture of one from about 10 feet. It was a big bull, all by himself. This guy positioned himself with a 2000lbs bison in front of him and a 10-12ft drop off behind him. The bison ran him off the cliff backwards. He appeared to be still alive when the ambulance took him away.

If you time it just right, with a good running start, you can actually leap over Old Faithful. Just one request, don't wear anything Clemson when you do.

Jackson Hole is a big time tourist trap. Consider staying in Idaho and drive over to the parks. It is a beautiful drive, but if you have plenty of $$$ go ahead and stay in JH. Do a Snake River float wherever you stay.

I am staying in a yurt near Victor, Idaho. Glad to know Jackson Hole is a tourist trap.

How long is the hike to Jenny Lake? I already have a hike planned to Delta Lake.

I believe the entire trail is about 8 miles, moderate difficulty. It can take you to Hidden Falls. There is a ferry, though, that can take you across the lake and over to Hidden Falls. It’s beautiful, but because people can hop on the ferry, it can get crowded, depending on the time of year. Delta Lake is a great and beautiful lake and trail too, also Taggart Lake. Haven’t been, but heard they’re just as good as Jenny Lake.

I love having several different options. Mormon Row is a must though.

Jackson Hole is a beautiful town where you will spend too much money if you are not careful. Not sure I'd call it a tourist trap. Definitely spend your nights in another location. Backpacking can be great but you'll need to pull permits. Bear Spray can for each person if you go into the back country.

Since you can't fly with bear spray, do the parks rent any? Or would I have to go to a store to rent some?

Definitely rent or buy bear spray! better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. I have seen a grizzly both times I was in Yellowstone. The park does rent bear spray. I bought a cannister for about $50 and mailed it back to me.

Snake River Lodge is great near the Tetons . Also, There is a great Chuck Wagon show and meal . Must be reserved in advance or risk missing out on it as I did my last visit .

Bullwinkles outside of Yellowstone and try a Moose Drool Ale .
I watched the 2006 Clemson vs Florida State game with 3 gals from Sweden at Bullwinkle's . My stepdad said...you might get lucky with one of those gals. I said I'm old enough to be their dad .
